Volunteer
Tax Preparers Needed
The Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) Program provides free tax help to people age 60 and older. The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program provides free tax help to low income persons. Trained volunteers provide free tax counseling and basic income tax return preparation for senior citizens and low- to moderate-income individuals. Volunteers may also be individuals who are employed, but wish to volunteer time to their communities during the evening and on weekends. Volunteer return preparation programs provided through IRS and its partners offer free help in preparing tax returns for senior citizens and low- to moderate-income taxpayers who cannot prepare their own tax returns. If you would like to volunteer, be trained and certified, and then help eligible taxpayers in the area, please contact Michelle Ives at the Southwest Missouri Office on Aging, (417) 862-0762. |
